Union Musical Ediciones began life in Bilbao as Casa Dotesio S.A. in 1900.
As its catalogues grew it adopted the name Union Musical Española, S.A. which would become synonymous with 20th century Spanish music publishing and many important works by all the great names of Spanish classical music including Granados, Vives, Turina, Rodrigo, Ernesto, Rodolfo y Cristóbal Halffter, Frederic Mompou, Toldrá, Oscar Esplá, Jesús Guridi and many more. In addition the catalogue included a wide range of other genres including folk music, popular Spanish music and pop.
With the company’s acquisition by Music Sales in 1990 came another new name— Unión Musical Ediciones S.L.—and expansion into wider musical forms of music and Spanish representation of all the group’s numerous catalogues.
